I am a big fan of author Dominique Browning’s work. She is the author of one of my favorite books about her home and garden, Paths of Desire. It was published when she still had the enviable job as editor of the now defunct, and much missed House & Garden magazine. She was a victim, like me, of the early recession lay-offs in journalism industry.
A more recent tome about coping and moving on from that lay-off, Slow Love Life, was an inspiration to me, and I’m sure many others in similar (though less exalted) situations. Her blog carries the same name. Though I am not particularly religious, this post spoke to me.

Browning is also the author of Around the House and In the Garden: a Memoir of Heartbreak, Healing, and Home Improvement.
